Downwind fun

Downwind Fun | Downwind racing | Wing foiling | Surf Foiling | Foil Assist | Lightwind

Sizes :  565 | 650 | 775 | 930 | 1110 cm²

A high efficiency, glide and acceleration focused front wing designed to deliver race level speed and stability in a more usable, fun, and versatile package.

The Solus was designed for fun but built to wind. Designed by Kane de Wilde and used to win races world wide and the Koa Kai championship, the foil was originally born as an alternative to extreme high aspect race foils. Instead of chasing the highest aspect ratio and span at the cost of control, the goal was to build a foil that goes fast, accelerates easily, and remains fun and controllable in everyday conditions, open ocean runs, and variable wind or swells.

565
Small, fast option for powered conditions and lighter riders. Prioritizes speed and efficiency while staying manageable.

650
High speed freeride and race size that stays composed when pushed hard. Excellent for stronger windx winging and fast bay runs.

775
Core Solus size and proven race platform. Delivers exceptional glide and speed relative to its area, making it suitable for a wide range of conditions and rider weights.

930
High glide and lift option for lighter winds, longer runs, or heavier riders. Maintains efficiency while offering more lift and stability.

1110
Maximum glide and efficiency size for light wind winging, Foil Assist, and riders prioritizing easy speed and low effort cruising.

All Solus sizes share a consistent 14 aspect ratio geometry, balancing glide and control while keeping spans manageable and surfy. Combined with a highly refined foil section, the Solus runs significantly faster and smaller than its size would suggest, without feeling too small or hard to keep on foil.

This approach has proven itself in competition. Kane won Paddle Imua, Maui to Molokai, placed second at Molokai to Oahu, and won the overall Koa Kai Triple Crown on a Solus 775, while many competitors were riding front wings closer to 500 square centimeters.

The Solus feels slippery fast and efficient without feeling pitchy or tracky at any speeds. Acceleration and drive is immediate when pumping and the foil remains stable at higher speeds and as pace increases. It feels lighter and quicker than its area suggests, with surprisingly good pitch stability and a smooth, predictable response that encourages longer runs and higher average speeds.

All Solus sizes share a 14 aspect ratio. The multi section design combines a thicker, reflexed center section with thinner, higher camber tips to balance stability, efficiency, and handling.
