LEASHES
Wing foil leashes are crucial safety equipment that connects you to both your board and wing while riding. Our collection features two main types: board leashes, available in coiled or straight designs for ankle, calf or waist attachment, and wing leashes, which typically utilize bungee-style construction for wrist or waist connection. Some leashes incorporate essential safety features, including quick-release mechanisms and all of them have a floating designs to prevent foil entanglement.
Board Leash | Straight /Coil
- Straight Leashes : Preferred because they allow the board to drift away from you when you fall, reducing the risk of injury from the board rebounding back. They are also less likely to tangle in turbulent water conditions. On the other side, these leashes can drag in the water, creating resistance and potentially snagging on objects and getting tangled in your foil.
- Coiled Leashes : Minimize drag by keeping the leash out of the water, reducing the risk of snagging on anything, and they also prevent tangles around your feet and the foil.
Board Leash | Ankle /Calf /Waist
-
Ankle Leashes : Generally more secure in turbulent conditions and are preferred for quick recovery. However, they can tangle in your feet or/and the foil.
-
Calf Leashes : Attached higher up on the leg, these are less likely to be stepped on and tangled with gear. They can be uncomfortable when kneeling but keep the leash out of the water.
-
Waist Leashes : These keep the leash off the deck and out of the water, providing a cleaner setup. They are ideal for beginners to avoid stepping on the leash.
Wing Leash | Bungee /Coil
When choosing between bungee-style and coil-style leashes, consider your specific needs. Bungee-style leashes offer superior shock absorption and tangle resistance, making them ideal for riders seeking a hassle-free experience. In contrast, coil-style leashes provide exceptional compactness and durability, perfect intense conditions, though they may experience occasional recoil.
Wing Leash | Wrist / Waist
The decision between wrist and waist leashes depends on your riding style and experience level. Wrist leashes offer direct wing control and enhanced maneuverability but may limit range of motion and cause arm fatigue. Waist leashes, while potentially more expensive, provide greater freedom of movement, easier wing switching, and better compatibility with harness systems, making them particularly suitable for advanced riders performing complex maneuvers.
Choosing the right leash is essential for maximizing both safety and performance in wing foiling. Consider your experience level, riding conditions, and personal preferences when selecting your board and wing leashes.
By understanding the advantages and limitations of each design, you can ensure a secure connection to your gear while maintaining optimal maneuverability and enjoyment during your session.
