Appletree Appleslice V3

Flat water, waves or freestyle, you don’t have to choose!

Introducing the AppleSlice V3, the next generation of freeride wing boards. Longer, narrower, faster, the Slice V3 sets a new bar for performance! Enjoy longer rides, enhanced agility and forgiving handling - all in one design.

The Appleslice V3 is the latest and most refined version of Appletree's versatile and much-loved wingboard. This board is perfect for improving your skills, whether you are switching from a beginner's board to a smaller, high-performance model with enough volume for buoyancy, or looking for a low-volume board to improve your wave or freestyle techniques. The Appleslice V3 has you covered! The Appleslice V3 comes in many sizes, from small and sinking 40 L to 60 L to higher volume boards up to 100 L and everything in between. No matter what size you go for, the Appleslice V3 is the most versatile, high performance wing board out there!

Choosing your size

The Appleslice V3 comes in many sizes, from small and sinking 40 L to 60 L to higher volume boards up to 100 L and everything in between.

Appletree recommends the smaller sizes for accomplished riders that are looking for the pinnacle of performance. These sizes also work really well as a crossover surf foil board and for use with an electric assist foil, like the Foildrive.

Going up in size, the volumes are sinkers for heavier riders and floaters for lighter riders. They have a long explanation video about which volume, sinking or floating, works best for which rider and weight range.

Finally the floating volume sizes are great for intermediate riders who are looking to progress their riding but still want the stability and security that a floating board brings. Experienced riders will find these boards incredibly good in light wind conditions as the low wind release is exceptional.

Key design features

Narrow and longer! Plus better low wind performance. The optimised rocker ensures super easy touch downs and early planning. Appletree keeps this “long and narrow” theme  in the whole size range. So also with the bigger sized Slice’s, you can carve hard. Now also bigger riders can experience the same performance as lighter riders due to the finely tuned dimensions of each board in the size range.

This new version of the Appleslice draws inspiration from the faster Skipper downwind and wing models Appletree makes. These shapes are longer with a smoother bottom contour to help water flow more efficiently so the board reaches top speed quicker.

The bottom starts with a displacement hull design which forces the water to the sides. It helps the board come to the surface quicker in the low volume sinker sizes. After the displacement hull the bottom flows into a flatter middle section, which makes the Appleslice V3 much more stable than the Skipper boards.

Appletree pulled up the hard rail edge much further up towards the nose which helps with water release and taking off in lighter winds. When you hit the wave with the rail of the board the Appleslice V3 hardly slows down. To further help with wave performance, the tail of the V3 is quite a bit narrower than the previous version, this helps with the ability to turn in waves.

The top rail has a small radius which gives it a nice wide platform on the deck, also this harder rail makes the board easier to grab.

Foil placement flexibility
The foil boxes in the Appleslice V3 are placed slightly forward and they feature the new Appletree’s long foil boxes for more foil placement flexibility.

Placing the foil further in the boxes balances the board out and reduces swing weight. This helps with tight turns on the wave and on flat water. Moving the foil further back makes it more stable. Plus it helps with controlling the lift of the foil better.

Including deck pad and inserts
The Appleslice V3 comes with comfortable pads with plenty of grip and a kick tail so you can feel where you are on the board. It has inserts in almost all imaginable positions. So you can fine tune your strap position to match your preference.

New on the V3 are the off-set positions for your back foot. This gives you more leverage over the foil mast and that really helps in toe side turns when trapped in.

100% CARBON FIBER CONSTRUCTION
All Appletree foil boards are produced in their 100% carbon fiber construction. You want carbon fiber in a foil board for its stiffness and strength. A stiff board will give you the best control and response from the foil. Also stiffness will make pumping the foil much more effective. With carbon fiber, Appletree is able to make the board extremely strong while really light at the same time.

The most stress in a foil board is in the connection of the foil to the board. So this is where Appletree puts extra care and attention to make it the strongest connection available. The foil mount is CNC cut with the board, for the highest precision. Appletree only uses FUTURES oneshot boxes as they are the strongest in the industry. The boxes are placed in a panel of ultra high density PET honeycomb. This PET honeycomb itself is sandwiched in carbon again. Meaning there is carbon fiber both inside the board and outside. The honeycombs open structure ensures a solid connection between inside and outside, fusing everything together into a solid block.
Appletree's lamination is completely different as well. They use a vacuum technique developed in house, where they layer all the carbon fiber, and reinforcements on the board dry. Then they extract all the air from the bag and inject the epoxy resin under pressure. This results in the tightest lamination possible, with the best ration between fiber and epoxy. It also gives 100% connection to the core so the boards do not delaminate. Extra patches under the feet prevent heel denting.
Inserts in Appletree's foil range are made from blocks of high density material. And can be customized position wise. These blocks are also fused to the core so they never pull out.

Tech Features

Longer and narrower: The Slice V3 is longer and narrower per size, giving the board the ability to have an optimized rocker line while still maintaining the desired liters. Why does that matter? Having an optimized rocker line is a critical part of board design, especially for early takeoff and touchdown forgiveness. The V3 launches onto foil incredibly fast and doesn’t grab or pull when you touch it down on the water.

Sharper rails: The Slice V3 features sharper rails where the bevel meets the bottom of the board, providing fast planing and quick release from the water.

Pulled-in rails: In addition to being narrower, the Slice V3 has tucked-in rails and tail, offering the rider the most margin of error when riding in critical sections or learning new maneuvers.

Displacement under the front foot: Similar to the skipper range, the Slice V3 has a bit of extra displacement under the front foot. This, combined with the double concave at the nose, creates a seamless reentry or touchdown, providing maximum forgiveness while on foil.

Reduced rail radius: Reducing the rail radius on the Slice V3 allowed them to shape a narrow board without making it hard to control. There is still plenty of deck space to allow for a really locked-in feel, ample control, and the ability to adjust your feet as much as you like.
