2027 Cabrinha Mantis Wing

ALL AROUND FREERIDE | WAVE | BIG AIR

The Mantis continues to be the benchmark for allround wing performance. In 2027, refinements to the aerodynamic profiles, canopy tension, and panel layout helped improve balance, efficiency, and handling, delivering an even more intuitive riding experience. Whether you’re taking your first flights or pushing advanced maneuvers, the Mantis remains the wing that does it all.

The Manits is for wing foilers who are looking for a performance all-round wing which excels in flat water just as well as it does in the surf and in the air. This is a powered wing, ideal for the racecourse, the local break, or the foiler who is looking for a wing with exceptional performance, control off the LE handle and balanced in the surf, but also boasts some serious big air capabilities.

Features

  • Improvements to internal tension optimize canopy tightness and performance
  • New aerodynamic profiles help improve front hand pressure
  • Radial load distribution panel layout
  • Teijin D2 canopy with Teijin-75 trailing edge panels
  • 3 stage Hybrid LE construction increases stiffness & reduces weight
  • Reinforced double centre section adds strength and stiffness
  • Rigid single boom allows the ultimate control &handling
  • Drop strut design improves ergonomics and hand placement
  • Optimized canopy tension for early planing and power delivery
  • TruView infill panel for maximum field of view

Positioning vs Other Wings

Versus 2026 Vision: While both of these are great for the everyday freeride session, that is where the similarity ends. The Mantis features a much flatter canopy in comparison to the Vision’s much fuller profile, particularly at the LE. Because of its flatter canopy design, it will require a bit more kinetic input(pumping) to get foiling in the lighter end of the wind range, but once up and riding, the flatter profile brings on the apparent wind and unlocks the Mantis’ signature performance and upwind angles. When sizing, we recommend the Vision for the lighter end of the wind range, simply due to its fuller profile and more grunty personality, while the larger sizes of the Mantis should be selected more in consideration for rider stature.
The Mantis also features a lower dihedral LE in comparison to the Vision, so it will fly a bit more balanced off of the front handle, when flagged out, making it ideal in the surf so that you can largely ignore your wing and focus 100% on shredding lines! All of these qualities also provide the Mantis with a substantial big air pedigree. For riders looking to beat their personal best in the air, or even who may be just occasionally looking to boost, the Mantis is the clear choice.

Designer Notes

For the latest Mantis, the focus wasn’t on changing what riders love about the wing, but on refining and improving key areas that impact performance, comfort, and durability.
One of the primary goals was to improve front hand pressure and overall balance, so I developed new aerodynamic profiles that help create a more comfortable and efficient riding experience across the wind range.
A significant amount of work also went into the canopy construction. The new radial load distribution panel layout aligns the strongest thread lines of the fabric with the primary load paths generated during flight. This allows the canopy to better manage load distribution and maintain its shape over time. To further support this, we’ve introduced new 75gsm trailing edge panels in areas that experience the highest loads, helping improve both performance and long-term durability.
Ergonomics and visibility were also key areas of focus. The redesigned drop strut and mesh infill panel improve the way the wing sits in your hands while also enhancing visibility through the upper window, making it easier to stay aware of your surroundings on the water.
Internally, we’ve refined the tension settings throughout the wing to optimize canopy tightness and overall efficiency. Combined with new, lighter and stiffer materials in the wing tips, the result is improved trailing edge control under load, reduced swing weight, and a more responsive feel when maneuvering the wing.
Individually these changes may seem small, but together they contribute to a Mantis that feels more balanced, more refined, and more efficient than ever before.
