Wetsuits  | Kiteboarding/Wing Foiling / Foiling

Wetsuits and drysuits are critical pieces of equipment designed to protect individuals in water environments, each with a fascinating technological evolution. Invented in the early 1950s by Hugh Bradner, wetsuits work on a unique principle of trapping a thin water layer between the suit and skin, which is then warmed by body heat to provide insulation. The suits have progressed dramatically over decades, starting with separate neoprene jackets in the 1960s and evolving to sophisticated "one piece" designs with advanced materials like polyurethane and "super stretch" fabrics. Wetsuits are separated into two big categories : Winter Suits and Spring Suits.

Drysuits, which predate wetsuits and were initially used by military divers, take a different approach by keeping the wearer completely dry. Unlike wetsuits, they create a watertight seal and are typically made from materials like vulcanized rubber or heavy-duty waterproof fabrics.

Both types of suits represent remarkable technological achievements, driven by the ongoing need to enhance performance, comfort, and protection for various water activities and conditions ranging from kitesurfing to diving for military operations. Modern versions feature improved sealing techniques, flexible materials, and specialized closure systems that make them more effective and comfortable than their early predecessors.
