What is Foiling!?

Foiling is a revolutionary watersport that has transformed how we experience the water, combining elements of surfing, sailing, and flying. Born from America's Cup racing technology in the early 2010s, hydrofoils were adapted for recreational use. The basic principle involves a wing-shaped blade (hydrofoil) mounted on a mast of various lengths beneath a board that lifts the rider above the water's surface when enough speed is generated, creating a magical floating sensation.

The sport has evolved into many distinct disciplines: Wing foiling pairs a handheld inflatable wing with a foil board for incredible versatility in various wind conditions. Surf foiling involves catching and riding ocean waves with enhanced glide and efficiency. Pump foiling, relies solely on the rider's body movement to generate momentum and can be achieved with (SUP Foiling) or without a paddle (Prone Foiling). E-foiling uses an electric motor-powered hydrofoil for autonomous flight above water. Kite foiling combines traditional kiteboarding with hydrofoils for increased speed and efficiency. Now the new trend is Parawing foiling which combines winging and paragliding to create surfing, downwind foiling freedom.

The equipment has become increasingly refined, with different foil shapes and sizes optimized for specific disciplines. Modern foils are typically constructed from carbon fiber or aluminum, offering various combinations of masts, fuselages, and wings to suit different riding styles and skill levels.
