Sensor 2S Control Bar VS Sensor 2S+ Control Bar
Green Hat Kiteboarding recommends using the same brand of kite and bar when possible. So if you're flying Core Kites, you should definitely use either the Core Sensor 2S Pro Control Bar of the Core Sensor 2S/ 2S+ Control Bar. Both Core control bars have an adjustable throw, which makes them ideal for smaller kiters who might have difficulties reaching the depower trim while kiting.

Sensor 2S Control Bar VS Sensor 2S+ Control Bar
The Sensor 2S Control bar comes with 24m lines.
The Sensor 2S+ is the same bar, but comes with 18m lines plus 2m and 4m extensions. This bar has following possible line length configurations: 18m, 20m, 22m, and 24m.
What makes the Sensor 2S Control Bar Unique?
Meet the new Sensor 2S. An intelligent mid-cycle update to the exceptional Sensor 2. A bar, where engineering ingenuity meets minimalism; where ceramic bearings are used to eliminate friction in the auto untwist function; and where Tectanium is used to make the thinnest and most aerodynamic depower lines. Technical innovations that make the Sensor 2S bar system peerless. Sometimes, it's what you don’t see, that makes it so good. Still not good enough for you? Then, you are ready for the new Sensor 2S Pro.
Sensor 2S Control Bar Key Features
- S-System Ceramic Untwist Bearing
- Durable 24 Meter Lines
- Vario Width Adjustable Bar Length
- Moveable Sensor Adjuster above the bar depower clam cleat
- Stainless Steel S-Neck Connection
- Tectanium S-Slide / Depower Lines
- Ultralight Unibody Bar
- Titanium Core

Functional simplicity. Untwisting your front lines has never been easier. Front line twists only occur below the Sensor 2S bar. An improved, below the bar, swivel with hi-tech ceramic bearings unravels the front lines virtually on its own or whenever the bar is pulled in. The days of manually spinning the front line swivel are over. Welcome to the Sensor 2S era of super auto untwist!
Perfect balance. The stainless steel connection between the Rotor QR and the depower lines is shaped to provide more symmetric pulling forces on the lines. S-Neck: Smoother auto untwist. Zero unwanted leverage. Perfectly symmetric pulling forces. Now that’s smart.
TECTANIUM S-SLIDE / DEPOWER LINES
The Sensor 2S replaces the front lines from the “Y” to the chicken loop with our exclusive, no stretch, Tectanium. And we protect it with a 5.2mm, UV-stabilized, Polyether where it passes through the bar. Techno speak for a really durable, self-lubricating, no pinch, depower line. The new, virtually frictionless, depower/safety lines are more aerodynamic, provide better feedback, and are more comfortable between the fingers. Just wait till you try it. You’ll see.
ULTRALIGHT UNIBODY BAR
Made in Germany. The featherlight, unibody bar comes in at a mere 230g. The key to the Sensor 2S’s light and super direct feel is found in its low mass and low bar-end height. Inertia is reduced and leverage is optimized. The Sensor 2S sports a deeply contoured EVA grip for long lasting comfort and excellent hold. The reduced diameter grip makes even gloved sessions more comfortable and less fatiguing.
High tech bar with a strong heart. In the middle of the Unibody bar is the secret to the strength of the SENSOR 2. Thanks to the specially constructed titanium insert the SENSOR 2 is able to boast an extreme break load and stiffness whilst being as light as a feather. These attributes also result in the typical crisp flight feeling.
Above the Bar trim adjuster
Fine trimming. The forces acting on the cleat adjuster are reduced to a quarter by the addition of another loop through the slide pulley, which results in the exceptionally smooth and precise operation of the adjuster, even in the upper wind limits. And the levels of comfort get even better: the depower throw can now be easily adjusted to suit the size of the rider by simply moving the cleat adjuster.
Rotor Quick Release
So easy – just turn. The release mechanism, which can be turned in either direction, allows for intuitive emergency release in any situation. It has been proven that the turning motion allows for more force to be exerted. In addition to this, and unlike conventional systems, you don’t need to fight against the water flow. The ROTOR system not only more than fulfills the highest standards but it also sets new standards in safety, as regularly proven by independent testing. Another tangible advantage: Compared to push systems, the ROTOR quickrelease has a noticeably more compact and lighter design, while also bringing the depower adjuster closer to the riders reach – not only a comfort plus but also resulting in better safety in critical situations.
Always works. The self-un-swivelling of the CORE bars has been setting high standards for many years as it sorts the lines out in any and every situation without issue. CORE has always designed the lines to twist and cross below the bar. When you pull the bar down the lines are left with little option but to sort themselves out again.
All kite sizes respond to one bar. Thanks to the ability to easily adjust the knot of the steering lines at the end of the bar, the size can be extended by six centimeters from 46 to 52 centimeters. With this the SENSOR 2 bar covers the full kite spectrum from 5 to 19 square meters

Core Sensor 2 breathed new life into our kites.
I just got the Sensor 2S bar and was impressed off the bat at how light the bar and lines were. It so much lighter than I any of the bars I have used and enjoy the way it flies my 15m down to the 7.5.m. I haven't used it on my 5.5m but am sure it will do well. Since two other bars I bought only lasted three years , due to failure of plastic parts that make up the primary release mechanism. The manufacturer send replacements but one has failed as before. The Core release feels sturdy and superior to ones I am replacing. There are no plastic bits to bend to or click in. I would always ask my wife when she used our bars, " did the release click in.....sounds stupid to rely on plastic tabs to attach you to your kite. Not so withe rotating release, simple twist and your locked in. The chicken loop is compact and keeps the depower closer, which prevents over reaching. It's just a great bar all around. It's breathed new life into our kites. I am very happy at how the bar pressure feels lighter and my transitions tie side feel smoother too. The bar grip is super too.
Simple, works well for all skills and conditions
I had a chance to demo Core kites and control systems on a recent kite trip to the Florida Keys. Seeing the Core name around before but never talking to or knowing someone with Core kites, I figured it was good equipment but had no idea it was designed so different from the US brand companies.
My first impression of the bar: feels like children’s toy; a bit skinny, short and minimalist. The safety release is different – twist Vs. push system but simple and intuitive to understand operation. First flight of the kite and I am impressed with the overall feel of the bar and kite response with such a tinny /simple bar.
My overall demo experience after flying the XR4 and GTS4 was positive leaving a good impression about Core equipment.
The next week I purchased a Core Free 12m for my girl who is learning to kite. Initially I flew the kite using the Cabrinha Trimlite bar/line. Although the kite performed well with this bar one week later I purchased the Core bar set.
Selected the plus, allows line length changes for teaching my girl to kite and to use short lines myself in the surf. The 20m setup on a 12m Free has been ideal, will bump up to 24m when her kite control/comfort improves. It’s nice having this flexibility for different wind and wave conditions.
Now that I have used the bar a few times I’m impressed with Core’s quality and engineering the minimalist approach is great for beginner kiters. The product appears to be refined from what I have used in the recent past, a precision feel for advanced riders to enjoy.
Lastly the depower cleat system is flawless. The feel is like no other, it always works regardless of line tension. Wonderful intuitive system for a beginner to gain comfort and confidence in the sport.
