Best kite for beginners and advanced users
This is a very good kite for beginners as well as advanced users for all around kiting and different riding styles. I have tried Switchblade 9, 11 and 12 meter kites. It is very stable with any type of wind. You can not be wrong purchasing Cabrinha Switchblade. I like 12 meter kite most because you can use it with any wind. I strongly recommend this kite for everybody.
Perfect All Around Kite - for Beginner to Advanced
This is a perfect entry kite for all around kiting and riding styles. I love my Switchblade 9 meter kite. It’s the first kite I ever purchased and the only one I’ve needed, as it’s such a versatile kite. It has a very steady flying experience, with very steady control. Whether you’re just getting into kite boarding or an advanced kiter looking for a reliable, consistent and smooth ride, I highly recommend the Cabrinha Switchblade !
Great freeride kite for every level of kiter
The 2019 Cabrinha Switchblade is a great kite for every level of kiter. I've been kiting for almost 3 years, I've tried the Switchblade in different sizes. My experience with the 5m was probably the most notable.
Having 5 struts can make some kites feel heavy, especially in the smaller sizes. When I tried the 2018 5m Switchblade in Hood River, Oregon two summers ago, I was really impressed with how quick and easy it was to steer. I was looking for a 5m kite, and I was hesitant to try a 5 strut 5m kite because I was worried it was going to feel heavy. I tested the Switchblade against a 5m Ocean Rodeo Prodigy, which has 3 struts, and I was amazed at how much faster turning the Switchblade was. It didn’t feel heavier than the 3 strut Prodigy, and although I was slightly underpowered in the conditions, I was able to move the Switchblade so quickly that I didn’t have any issues keeping it flying during my session.
I’ve tried a 9m and 12m 2019 Switchblade as well. Both were great, and they give you a really smooth ride. The bar pressure isn’t too heavy, so eventhough the kite has a lot of structure (probaby because of the 5 struts) it doesn’t feel like a tank. It’s easy to fly and I felt like the kite’s structure made water relaunches super easy. The kite is often referred to as a “cadillac” of kites. I don’t agree. Cadillacs are solid and heavy and not very sporty. The Switchblade’s speed and easy turning makes it feel like something in between a real sports car and an SUV. It’s good for all conditions, and you’re going to have fun riding it. Beginners will appreciate the Switchblade’s ability to fly upwind, and the kite is powerful enough to be a great jumping kite for non-beginners as well. I’m not a big jumper, but when I do go chasing small ramps in chop, this kite gives me what you need to get some air.
I strongly recommend this all around kite.
